Chris Paul's giving follows his own life: Winston-Salem, where he grew up; New Orleans, where his NBA career began; and every city his career has taken him since. Through his foundation, founded in 2005, the point guard known for seeing the whole floor built programs around education, health and young people, and kept showing up in person, in gyms, classrooms and middle schools, long after the cameras left.
The Foundation
The CP3 Foundation, now the Chris Paul Family Foundation, works across education, health and wellness and community development, in honour of his grandfather, whose memory anchors the family's giving. Its programs serve young people and families in Winston-Salem, New Orleans and his NBA cities.
Youth Basketball & Mentorship
His Chris Paul Basketball Academy and CP3 youth programs give kids in his hometown structured coaching and mentorship, using the game that raised him as the doorway into education and discipline, with scholarships woven through the family's work.
Education & HBCUs
Paul has used his platform and his money to lift historically Black colleges and universities, funding scholarships and spotlighting HBCU programs, and he put his own name behind it: while still an NBA star, he completed his bachelor's degree at Winston-Salem State University, graduating in 2022 to a standing ovation from the students he supports.
Shoes On Feet
With partners like Shoes That Fit, his foundation puts brand-new shoes on students who need them. At Bunche Middle School in Compton, more than 300 students received new Jordan sneakers and backpacks in a surprise giveaway, captured in the Kindness Engine's NBA Generosity library.
Clubs, Classrooms & Courts
From Boys & Girls Clubs to classroom visits and resurfaced courts, Paul's pattern is local and repetitive rather than occasional: the same communities, visited again and again, with the foundation's resources aimed at education first.
Giving Like A Point Guard
Teammates describe Paul's assists off the court the way they describe them on it: he finds the person, delivers what they actually need, and makes everyone around him better. Youth development is the field the map files him under, and his two decades of work show why.
The Bunche Middle School surprise: 300+ students, new Jordans and backpacks, from the foundation's own post.
