Davis Foundation, Environmental Programs
ENVIRONMENT

Anthony Davis learned giving from his family in Chicago, and he has carried it to every city he has played in. In New Orleans he built a season-long calendar of community events, and in Los Angeles his family foundation stepped up for hospital workers and arena staff when the pandemic shut the game down.

THE WORK
EST. 2014

AD's Flight Academy

Launched in 2014, AD's Flight Academy ran monthly events with groups across the Greater New Orleans area throughout the season. Davis took underprivileged teens bowling, to the movies and to laser tag, and built the program into a year-round presence in the city.

NEW ORLEANS

Thanksgiving at the New Orleans Mission

Davis and his family served Thanksgiving dinner at the New Orleans Mission, feeding hundreds of men experiencing homelessness, 300 of them in a single evening in 2015. The dinner became an annual tradition during his years in New Orleans.

HOLIDAYS

Shopping Sprees for Local Children

During the holidays, Davis took more than 200 children from local nonprofits on their own shopping spree at Target, letting each child pick out gifts for themselves and their families.

2017

Giving Away the MVP Car

After winning the 2017 NBA All-Star Game MVP award in New Orleans, Davis gave away the brand-new Kia that came with the honour to a mother of two connected with Kingsley House, a local family support organisation.

LOS ANGELES, 2020

Feeding the Frontline

In March 2020 the Anthony Davis Family Foundation and Lineage Logistics pledged to match donations up to $250,000 to launch Help Feed the Frontline Fighting COVID-19 in Los Angeles, sourcing restaurant meals for hospital workers with World Central Kitchen. The partnership also helped connect Staples Center staff, idled by the shutdown, with warehouse jobs.

RECOGNITION

Twice a Community Assist Winner

Davis received the NBA Cares Community Assist Award twice during his New Orleans years, recognition from the league for sustained charitable work in the community rather than a single event.
