SOCIAL JUSTICE

Kyrie Irving's giving is personal and often quiet: tuition paid off for students he has never met, water for a village on the other side of the world, support for players who stood up for what they believed. Through the K.A.I. Family Foundation, he has turned those individual acts into a steady pattern of help.

THE WORK
THE FOUNDATION

The K.A.I. Family Foundation

Irving's family foundation supports underprivileged families and children, with a focus on education, health and personal development. Its projects range from scholarships and court renovations in the United States to clean water and emergency relief overseas.

EST. 2020

$1.5 Million for WNBA Players Who Opted Out

In the summer of 2020, Irving committed $1.5 million to supplement the incomes of WNBA players who chose not to play that season, whether to fight for social justice, protect their health during the pandemic, or be with their families.

DECEMBER 2020

Tuition Paid for Nine HBCU Seniors

As part of the foundation's 11 Days of Giving, Irving paid the tuition of nine graduating seniors at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, the first HBCU to grant degrees. He told the students over a video call, so they could graduate without that debt.

STANDING ROCK

Standing With the Standing Rock Sioux

Irving, whose late mother was a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, publicly supported the water protectors opposing the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016 and later visited Standing Rock, where he was honoured in a ceremony. He has continued to support the tribe, including donating food supplies during the pandemic.

PAKISTAN, 2021

A Solar Water Center in Tharparkar

In July 2021 the K.A.I. Family Foundation partnered with the Paani Project to build a solar-powered water centre in the village of Rohal in Pakistan's Tharparkar desert region. The centre brought clean drinking water and electric power to around 1,000 people who had been walking long distances for water.

2021

A Home for George Floyd's Family

In 2021 Irving quietly donated a home to the family of George Floyd, whose death in police custody sparked worldwide protests. The gift was made without publicity and only became known through the family's circle.
